Definitions are in constant motion. Like the spokes in a spinning bike wheel, not one remains at the top of the wheel.
As with the spokes, shifts in meaning occur in daily objects, individuals, and in one's definition of self. The meanings morph across the scope of a day, a week, and across one's lifetime. Paint allows for this fluidity of definition. Paint is thick and viscous; watery and solid; opaque and also translucent.
My recent paintings explore personal definitions—those definitions that build in resonance and volume throughout the moments of one's day and that present unfathomable possibilities precisely because of their ability to change.
